Slowly, it gained its importance in Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru, an administrative district which was ruled by Spanish. Lima initially became the capital city of Viceroyalty of Peru in 1543, and after the war of independence it became the capital city of republic of Peru. In the succeeding years, it became one of the most important centres of trade connecting viceroyalty with other American countries and also Far East.In this way, the city gained popularity and at present is one of the most important cities of Peru. The walls of Lima were built in the period 1684-1687, to protect the city from pirates,coming from the Pacific Ocean. Climate The city is blessed with very good climate, it neither hot nor cold. In spite of the city being located in the desert, the city still has a good climate due to the cold water of Pacific Ocean. Hence, it can be said that Lima has a mild dessert climate. The temperature ranges between 14°C to 29°C. This is the perfect temperature range a human can withstand, isn’t it? Moreover, there are only two seasons in the city summer and winter.
